Meet The Team

A female founded talent partner, with 18 years of experience, on a mission to help diversify the UK Tech space

Co-Founder

Emma Storey

Hi! I’m Emma 👋

I’m one half of the founding team at Hera.

I have spent many years in the world of recruitment with a keen focus on Product and Design functions, carefully sourcing the first product person for a business, through to building out talented and driven cross-functional departments for CPO’s and Founders.

I absolutely love working with early stage businesses to get into the nitty gritty of what they do brilliantly, and what needs a bit of TLC! I then tailor my approach to suit the individual requirements, and aim to build long term partnerships. What’s important to you is just as important to me!

As a Neurodivergent woman, and a working parent within a male dominated industry for the past 8 years, I have some lived experience of the struggles and challenges a lack of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion can have on individuals. I have also seen the detrimental impact this will in turn have on a business and its success.

To compliment this, I have worked with Founders and Leaders of Tech startups and scaleups across the UK for nearly a decade now, to support them with their mission of building word-class, diverse and inclusive teams.

For many years prior to my career in recruitment, I worked in Healthcare. I led stores and pharmacy teams, supporting local communities with their medication, ongoing healthcare, and overall wellbeing needs. I worked closely with Community Doctors, Hospitals and other Healthcare Professionals, which gave me a good understanding of the challenges within this space.

Since 2013, after my wonderful Mum suffered a severe brain haemorrhage, I have also been exposed to the depths of the NHS, Social Care, and Residential Care Work, which has been both gut wrenching and humbling in equal measures.

I am extremely passionate about supporting startup businesses in the HealthTech space who are striving for change and want to help.

Outside of my day job I’m a Mum, a Wife, a Cake Baker, a DIYer, a Teetotaller, and a Fitness and Interiors lover! I grew up in Cornwall (near Bude if you know it!), and moved to the beautiful city of Bristol 10 years ago.

What am I motivated by?

  • Taking care of others. I’m happiest when everyone around me has what they need!
  • Emma/Monica Geller. A tidy desk, tidy home, and a tidy workflow = a tidy mind!
  • Closing the gap when it comes to DE&I in Technology.

Nicola Morse

Hiya! I’m Nicola!👋

And I’m proud to be one of the female entrepreneurs that now make up approximately 20% of all new incorporations in the UK!

I’m someone with an infectious enthusiasm for talent attraction, someone who flies the flag for all things D,E+I and a lover of life in general (I’m largely talking about being a lover of coffee, gherkins, fitness and a full nights sleep here!)

Beyond the buzz that still comes from the day-to-day recruitment that I’ve been practising for over a decade, I’m hugely passionate about female empowerment. Seeing other women thrive and challenge the norm, particularly in a business capacity, will never get old. I’d love to say that my journey of championing other women was purely founded at the all-girls secondary school that I attended, but I’d be lying because what woman growing up in the 90s hasn’t been hugely inspired and influenced by the Spice Girls and their ‘Girl Power’ movement?!

Over the years, I’ve seen firsthand how the recruitment industry has evolved and how technology has been at the heart of such an incredible transformation. It’s been out with the hand written CVs and in with more snazzy LinkedIn profiles and GitHubs than you can shake a stick at, but for me, something that’s never been compromised is the need for creating human centric relationships at every level.

Personally, the real magic of talent attraction happens as I join forces with Founders and Co-Founders in Startups and Scaleups, who are at the forefront of innovation in their space. An entrepreneurial spirit is contagious so what’s more exciting and rewarding than being a talent partner deeply rooted into the cutting edge projects and solutions that genuinely have a significant impact on society.

Outside of my career as a recruiter, I have THE most important job of all – being Mummy to Immie and Harry! I’m kept on my toes and awake 24/7 but I really wouldn’t change it for the world

What am I motivated by?

  • Disrupting tradition and breaking glass ceilings
  • Bringing a positive energy and a bit of fun to projects that excite me
  • Being a role model for both my children and showing them that if you take a risk and work hard, it might just pay off!
  • Good food
